A romantic white marble sculpture, depicting a story of love and heartache. The original marble sculpture of Clorinda by John Bell was commissioned by Lord Lansdowne and it was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1848. Clorinda is the beautiful pagan warrior featured in Tassos Gerusalemme Liberata (1580). During the battle between pagan & Christian armies, Clorinda is wounded by her lover Tancred, a Christian nobleman, who failed to recognize her in her armour, during the battle. This beautiful white cast marble statue of Clorinda, is made from Sculptured Arts Studio’s formed Carara marble, this model is an exact copy of the original antique marble statue, reduced by pantograph from the original to a clay master.
