Marble Sculpture, ClytieA fine romantic marble bust of Clytie, after the antique. Clytie was a water nymph, and in love with the sun god, Apollo, but when he abandoned her she sat broken hearted, and did nothing but stare at the sun, pineing for her lover from sunrise till fall, until her limbs took root and she was turned into a Sunflower, and according to Greek mythology this is the origin of Sunflowers today.
Made from formed Carara marble, which gives our marble sculpture the finest crisp detail, and a smooth stone feel to the touch.
Made in England
